FOUNDER’S NOTE

A Note from Lala, Founder of YELEE

I’m Lala, a lecturer in law by profession and a firm believer that knowledge is power.

Even though I studied economics, my understanding of personal finance largely centred on budgeting and saving. I hadn’t fully explored how money works, how investing fits into the bigger picture, or how our capitalist system shapes the financial opportunities available to us.

That changed when I became a mother. Thinking about the future took on a new meaning, and understanding money and investing became less of an option and more of a necessity. I found myself frustrated that I hadn’t learnt these things earlier, in a way that connected with my life and aspirations.

As an educator, I believe learning should be accessible, engaging and relevant. That’s why I created YELEE: to make financial education less intimidating, break down the big words and complex ideas, and bring learning closer to real life through practical tools, relatable examples and a little humour.

Knowledge is power. But understanding how to apply it to your own life is what makes it count.
